Will hold meeting with Egyptian PM, President al-Sisi had visited India

He said, Prime Minister Modi is coming tomorrow. He is here till the 25th. For the first time we are having a roundtable meeting between Prime Minister Modi and the Prime Minister of Egypt. Following the successful visit of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to India in January 2023, the two countries agreed to elevate the ties to a strategic partnership. Upon his return, the Egyptian President formed a special India unit in his cabinet consisting of senior ministers and asked them to improve relations with India. Prime Minister Modi will pay a state visit to Egypt on 24 and 25 June. According to a Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) release, the Prime Minister is visiting Egypt at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. This invitation was extended in January 2023 when he graced India’s Republic Day celebrations as the ‘Chief Guest’. This will be PM Modi’s first visit to Egypt.

Will interact with Egyptian dignitaries and Indian community

The Prime Minister will hold talks with President Sisi, besides senior dignitaries from the Government of Egypt and some prominent personalities and the Indian community. Relations between India and Egypt are based on ancient trade and economic links as well as cultural and deep-rooted people-to-people ties. It was agreed to elevate the relationship to a ‘strategic partnership’ during the state visit of President Sisi in January 2023.
